Solo Yo (Only Me)

Solo Yo

Solo Yo

This is not a happy state–to-be, caught in a looking-glass bowl–to see the sea where “Solo Yo” could escape into freedom.  It’s an in-between state that serves as a reminder that we tend to put ourselves into these situations unnecessarily.  I think to change his frown into a smile some day.

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.”–John Donne, No Man is an Island.

“The numbing mind-ream of knowing you’re alone not because people won’t accept you but because you find so little worth accepting. An imposed solitude is better than simply tolerating your company in waiting for something better. So loneliness is not such a terrible thing when you consider that the alternative to thought provoking solace is to be surrounded only by remindings of why that solitude is preferable.”–Jhonen Vasquez, Johnny, The Homicidal Maniac.

“Solitude is a chosen separation for refining your soul. Isolation is what you crave when you neglect the first.” –Wayne Cordeiro, Leading on Empty:  Refilling Your Tank and Renewing Your Passion.
